Melinda Leigh Maconi is currently a PhD Candidate at the University of South Florida. She received her Master’s in Sociology at the University of South Florida and her BA at the University of Florida. Her areas of research include education, disability, health, and illness. Her co-authored chapter based on her Master’s thesis, “It’s Not All about Coursework: Narratives of Inclusion and Exclusion among University Students Receiving Disability Accommodations” was presented on in Glasgow, Scotland in August 2019. She received Honorable Mention in the Society for the Study of Social Problems Disability Division Graduate Paper Award Competition that same year.
